Luego de una nueva pausa de casi 2 meses regresamos con un nuevo post. Hemos pasado algo ocupados preparando nuevo material y muchas sorpresas para ustedes. En esta ocasión hemos decidido hacer la reseña de una de las bandas más versátiles y divertidas dentro de la escena de la música extrema, ellos son Malignant Tumour. Formados en 1991 en República Checa, esta banda ha demostrado cómo todo, hasta lo más extremo, parte del Rock 'N Roll. Originalmente la banda se forma a manera de broma pues sus fundadores estaban en plena adolescencia, y solo quería divertirse un poco. Así, comienzan a producir material con letras estilo Gore y de horror, para de a poco, y gracias a la influencia del Grindcore político inglés, lanzarse a crear temas sobre problemas sociales. Además, en palabras de Bilos, ya estaba cansado de la falta de sentido y pensamiento de las bandas de Goregrind, a pesar de que algunas si le gusten.
Repùblica Checa es conocida dentro de la música extrema por el gran festival Obscene Extreme, pero eso no sitúa al país como un referente de la misma; aunque sí posean grandes bandas pero infravaloradas. Esto menciona Bilos, siendo también una de las razones para formar la banda y ser una de las pioneras para ese entonces en República Checa. Este país es considerado uno de los más pacíficos y con mayor desarrollo humano actualmente, pero eso no fue así siempre; aún guarda cicatrices de las conquistas, gobiernos y guerras que pasó, lo que se retrata en algunas letras de Malignant Tumour. Por otro lado, la banda es muy consciente sobre el abuso animal lo cual es una constante protesta en su música, pues ellos quieren dar voz a los que no la tienen; claro está que ese tipo de letras las hallarán más en la época Grindcore de la banda, en sus inicios, pues actualmente gran parte de su música está cruzada por los clichés más rockeros que son sexo, drogas y Rock 'N Roll, lo cual no le quita la calidad ni la brutalidad de la banda, sino que le da un toque único y divertido.
La banda tiene una clara división entre estas dos épocas: la primera está llena de juventud revolucionaria y apasionada por la lucha social, y la segunda es puro fiesta y diversión al estilo Rock 'N Roll vieja escuela; cabe mencionar que la banda sigue creando temas de carácter social, pero ya no es su enfoque principal. En tanto a su sonido, ellos dicen que son muy viejos para tocar extremadamente rápido y que la brutalidad no está necesariamente en eso, así que toman sus influencias Thrash, Punk, Grindcore y mezclan con Rock 'N Roll: suena interesante ¿verdad? Ellos lograron crear un sonido tan especial que, en lo personal, suena como si se mezclara a Doom con Motorhead, y Malignant sabe esto pues temas como "Motorcrust" o "At full throttle" exponen lo que acabo de mencionar.
Además, hay que añadir a todo esto su divertida puesta en escena, todo al estilo del Rock clásico pero con bastantes toques Crust, y para nada aburrida cuando tocan en vivo. Por eso, para saber apreciar a esta banda hay que entender que no todo es seriedad, caos y depresión, que es la imagen que el mundo tiene del Metal en general, sino también es divertirse y disfrutar, es burlarse de las cosas internas como externas y pasarla bien, sin que eso nos quite nuestra consciencia social y nuestra forma de pensar. Malignant es la banda ideal para escuchar en una fiesta o cuando quieras divertirte, porque quién no quiere disfrutar del buen sexo, drogas y Rock 'N Roll.
A pesar de que la banda tenga un gran recorrido los cambios constantes de alineación no han permitido que graben muchos "full-lenght" pero si que grabaron un montón de demos, EPs, compilados y splits con bandas como Acidez, Gride, Agathocles, Dead Infection, Unholy Grave, entre otras más. This time we decided to do a review about one of the most versatile and funniest band inside the extreme music scene, they're Malignant Tumour. They were formed back in 1991 in Czech Republic; they showed that even the most extreme music came from Rock 'N Roll. In the beggining they formed the band just to have fun because they were just adolescents. The first material they created were based in Gore and horror lyrics, after that and thanks to the influence of the British political Grindcore scene, the band changed their topics and style to be more political and social lyrics. In words of Bilos: he was tired of that non-sense Goregrind stuff even when some bands he likes.
Czech Republic inside the extreme music scene is known because of the Obscene Extreme Fest, but that isn't enough to make it referring in that music style, and it's a shame because they have a lot of great bands but very underrated. Bilos in a interview told that one of the reasons to start the band was that at that time there weren't a lot of band, so now they're a considered one of the pioneers in extreme music. Nowadays this country is known for being one of the most peaceful and with more human development, but it wasn't always like this; the country still keep the scars from conquest, governments and war, that they went through and you can hear it in some of the songs of Malignant. And also the band is very conscious about animal rights, and it's a constant topic in their lyrics, it seems that they were looking to gave a voice who doesn't have it. But that you would find more in the Grindcore era, they early years because nowadays their music it's more about Rock 'N Roll clichés: sex, drugs and Rock 'N Roll. But that don't take the brutality and quality of the band, make them unique and fun.
The band have a clear division between these eras: the early years fullfil of passionate revolutionary youth and the on going years where all is party, fun and old school Rock 'N Roll; it's necessary to tell that they're still creating social sogs but right now isn't they priority. About they sound in a interview they told that they are too old to play extremely fast and that isn't the main point of brutality; so they take their Thrash, Punk and Grindcore influences and mixed with a lot of old school Rock 'N Roll: sound interesntig true? They made it, creating a so special sound that, in my opinion, sounds like mixing Doom with Motorhead, and Malignant know it because songs like "Motorcrust" or "At full throttle" show that.
And they have very funny live shows, all with that classic Rock style, but with a lot of Crust mixture; no boring to see them live. To appreciate this band you need to understand that not all is serious, chaos and depression, and that is the image that the world have about Metal. This music is also about having fun, enjoy and sometimes laugh about internal and external things and having fun; and that would not take our serious and ideological part. Malignant Tumour is a great band to play in a party or just when you want to have fun because let's be honest; who doesn't enjoy sex, drugs and Rock 'N Roll.
